Sunday May 22nd, 2011 2pm Bay St Lawrence. The blessing of the fishing fleet occurs the first Sunday after lobster fishing begins (weather permitting). The Parish Priest and Minister bless every boat as they sail by the harbour.

We celebrate his landing annually in June. The day includes a re-enactment of John Cabot’s Landing, highland games, and fun day for children with games from yesteryear, BBQ and entertainment.

Friday, July 1st, 2011, Bay St Lawrence. Morning through to evening. Kick off Canada Day with a bang at the Bay St Lawrence Community Centre. Begin your day with pancakes, sausage and Canadian maple syrup at the Bay Cafe, followed by family fun day activities, BBQ and cake cutting. The evening ends at dusk with a fireworks display.

Sunday July 10, 2011 Noon St Margaret's Village. Enjoy the local cuisine of local strawberries with cream and tea and coffee. There will also be children's activities and local entertainment throughout the brunch.

| Sunday July 17th, 2011. Fishing Derby 8am-2pm Crab Dinner Noon-4pm One of the longest running Crab Festivals on Cape Breton Island. One can spend the day enjoying the water participating in the fishing derby. The local fishermen ensure all locals and visitors get to go out in a boat to do some fishing in hopes if winning the big prize. All children participating in the derby win a prize.
Follow that up with what is known as the best crab dinner on the Island. Enjoy our scenery, and local hospitality. Mark this on your calendar it is a must be there community celebration.

Hosted by the Bay St Lawrence Women's Fishnet it gives visitors a chance to sit down and enjoy a local delicacy as well as take in local musical culture through entertainment for everyone to enjoy. |
